TechnoFiber Line

Excellent mechanical properties, very good impact and notched impact strength

Long Glass Fibre: Strong and Light
TechnoFiber products are long glass fibre reinforced thermoplastics made by TechnoCompound GmbH. These raw materials are fashioned into so-called tailor-made compounds upon customer specifications. Nearly all partly crystalline and amorphous thermoplastics can be used as thermoplastic matrix. Our long glass fibre products are predestined for the manufacturing of components, which are exposed to extreme mechanical stress - as well as to high temperatures - which until recently were made of light-weight metal or thermo-set plastics.

The long glass fibre reinforced tubular pellets with a
diameter of approx. 2-3 mm are available in lengths of

10, 15 and 20 mm. Fibre and pellet are of the same length.

The pultrusion technology applied by TechnoCompound coats each glass fibre filament with a polymer matrix and joins fibre and matrix.

Long Glass Fibre versus Short Glass Fibre

Moulded parts made of short glass fibre reinforced polypropylene already meet high requirements in terms of thermo stability and shrinkage. TechnoFiber compounds reach a degree of stability and stiffness which is more than 30 % higher, the rates of notched impact strength are even 300 % higher than those of short glass fibre compounds.

and Responsibility

Processing Recommendations
TechnoFiber products must be processed gently in order to minimise fibre fracture. The longer the fibres in a component, the better the mechanical properties. The medium fibre length in the component should be kept as high as possible. If the fibre length in the component is larger than the critical fibre length Ic and with optimum fibre-matrix-adhesion, the maximum reinforcement effect of the polymer can be achieved. The diagram on the opposite side shows the impact of fibre length on composite material properties for long glass fibre reinforced polypropylene.
